Dr. Kathryn A. Hardy Bernal, Ph.D., is a creator, critical theorist, researcher, writer, and publisher, on intersections between art, design, fashion, film, costume, subculture, culture, society, religion, and psychoanalytical anthropology, with over twenty years’ involvement in the arts sector, including lecturing, teaching, research leadership, supervision and mentorship, editorial management, and curatorial practice. She is professionally ranked by the Humanities and Law panel of the New Zealand Government’s Tertiary Education Commission as a specialist in History, History of Art, Classics, and Curatorial Studies. She has held tenured academic positions at leading tertiary institutions in Australia and New Zealand, including ten years at Auckland University of Technology as Senior Lecturer and Coordinator of Critical, Contextual & Theoretical Studies; and Head of Research & Postgraduate Studies for the Yoobee Colleges under UP Education.

Dr. Hardy Bernal holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Visual and Material Culture (Massey University, College of Creative Arts), Master of Philosophy with First-class Honours in Art and Design (Auckland University of Technology), Bachelor of Art Theory with Distinction Honours in Art History and Theory (University of New South Wales, College of Fine Arts; University of Sydney), Certificate in Arts (Spanish), Certificate in Tertiary Teaching, Certificate in Visual Merchandising (Fashion Merchandising), and a Certificate in Showcard and Ticket Writing (Graphic Design).
